Three Generations support the Multiple Sclerosis Research and Relief Fund.

A Cramlington family pledges sponsorship to MSRRF to provide funds to find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis and support those diagnosed with the condition and their families.

Sheila Jameson, wife of Joe, mother of Ian and Dianne, mother in law of Anne and Steve, grandmother of Liam, Emma, David and Catherine was diagnosed with MS in 1977.

A former nurse, Sheila had to give up work due to her condition. The following years witnessed many periods of relapses and remissions. Sheila determined as ever, went from a walking stick to a wheelchair but never complained. In her later years she remained strong and positive in her outlook, a real role model for others in her situation. Sadly she died in December 2010, aged 74.

Sheila's family, inspired by her, decided they wanted to raise money to support others in a similar situation and to fund research to find a cure.

The challenge they have given themselves is to walk the St. Oswald's Way, 97 miles in 4 days, starting from Heavenfield near Chollerford on 6 September and finishing at Holy Island on 9 September.

The main part of the challenge will be walked by son in law Steve Cowen who is an experienced walker. He will be joined along the way by his son Liam and Joe, Sheila's husband. His support vehicle will be provided by his wife Dianne & daughter Emma.

Anyone wishing to join in the last few miles across the causeway is more than welcome.

We have set up a just giving web page for sponsorship, please pledge your support on Just Giving.

After pub

Hi all, well what a weekend, fantastic achievement for a wonderful cause, Sheila has been with us every step of the way and would have been so proud. It was wonderful to meet some of our friends along the causeway. Couldnt have done it without Team Cowen! Steve is already planning his next challenge, watch this space.....

In the Pub

Managed to walk to the pub when we got home. It was brilliant having family and friends waiting for me to walk the causeway.  Just like to thank everyone for their help and support, couldn't have done it without you all.

Lindisfarne Priory

At last, finished and have the team with me to celebrate.  Don't think it will sink in until the coming week.  Going to get a seat in the beer garden of The Ship to start celebrations and put my feet up.

Fenwick

Sitting on a bench looking down into Fenwick and across to the causeway.  Not long now and I will see you all for the last leg.

Team Cowen

We are leaving the cottage in the next 10 minutes. We have our t shirts on in support of the multiple sclerosis research and relief fund. Meet you at the causeway Steve, see you soon, keep going, you're doing great xxxx

Shiellow Woods

Got a glimpse of the causeway before entering the woods, not long now.  Cross country event on so there are horses and riders everywhere.

Swinhoe Farm

Mountains of grain in the open barns, smell is fantastic.
